I’m excited for another successful school year and I hope you feel the same – in whatever format you are in the midst of or will transition to, it is still unprecedented.
One thing that hasn’t changed…I am once again your UF representative for Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, Putnam, and St. Johns counties in Florida and the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York this year. I’m very eager to be a resource for you, your students and their parents throughout the college process.
I have coordinated virtual sessions with some of you via RepVisits and SCOIR and others I will be reaching out to hopefully get on your schedule shortly – if you have particular days/times that would work best, let me know! We want to ensure that we partner in the best way possible to provide information to your students, so I am still available for high school “visits” and “college fairs”… just in the virtual format this year.
I’ve also set up weekly Q&A sessions for my schedule (3-4pm) for students to register for a small group discussion with me. I can’t do 1:1 meetings with all interested students due to sheer volume (these are large territories!), but I know with the various schedules some students may miss the “school visit” and I want to provide options. Since we do not take demonstrated interest into consideration, please advise students that these are not necessary and really only if they cannot make a session we coordinate. I currently have a registration cap so they don’t get too unwieldy. I will continue them in October, as needed. The sessions are currently titled “Admissions Q&A” and students can register online at:

While not much has changed, here are a few updates for the year:
- Our application continues to be available on both The Common Application as well as the Coalition for College. Students may apply using either, as we have no preference, and only need to apply once.
- Our decision date is on the last Friday of February, making this year’s decision day February 26, 2021.
- We super score both the SAT and ACT.
- The Board of Governors for the State University System of Florida sets policy on test score requirements for all public universities in Florida. Individual institutions in the system such as UF do not make the decision whether or not to go test optional. We are aware of concerns students and families have regarding the inability to take the ACT or SAT given the COVID-19 pandemic, and those concerns have been passed along to the Board. At this point, the Board has not indicated they will make any changes to the testing requirements. We continue to monitor the situation, and will make sure to update everyone if there are any changes in the testing policy by the Board.
- The middle 50% of our 2020-2021 freshman class increased slightly from the previous year:
SAT: 1320-1460
ACT: 30-33
Here are some helpful reminders:
- Priority application deadline: November 1
- Student Self-Reported Academic Record deadline: December 1. Once students have submitted the SSAR and it is locked, they will not be able to make changes. However, if they submit their SSAR and make a change prior to December 1, please make sure they understand that they must submit their SSAR again to lock it and that they check to make sure the SSAR is linked to their application. If students have questions about this step they can find our FAQ here: https://admissions.ufl.edu/apply/freshman/ssar-faq.
- Test score submission deadline: December 15. Only official score reports will be applied to a student’s application.
- The FAFSA will open on October 1; UF’s “on-time” deadline to receive the data from our federal processor is December 15. This means that students should apply before December 15 in order to meet the deadline. Federal financial aid is on a first-come, first-served basis, so students need to apply early. The FAFSA will require “prior-prior” tax year data.
