Governor Rick Scott and First Lady Ann Scott are hosting the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration and have invited all Florida students to participate in the art and essay contests. Students in grades K-3 have a chance to win a cash prize by submitting artwork, and students in grades 4-12 can earn a 4-Year Florida College Prepaid scholarship through the essay contest. This year’s theme, “Honoring Hispanic American Heroes: Veterans, Military, Law Enforcement and First Responders,” focuses on the brave men and women who have and continue to protect our state and country. This is not only a great chance to broaden our students’ understanding of Florida’s vast history, these prizes could transform the lives of three students and their families by ensuring their in-state college tuition will be fully funded. Attached are the: • Art Contest rules and guidelines • Essay Contest rules and guidelines • Excellence in Education Award guidelines and nomination form • Printable flyer • Web banner and graphic to promote the contests on social media The deadline for all submissions is September 9, 2016, and more information is posted online at www.FloridaHispanicHeritage.com.
