The application is very simple – just tell students go to http://engineering.mercer.edu/admissions/scholarship.cfm, fill out the form and we will take it from there. We would appreciate having students’ applications by November 7th. Sincerely, Dr. Laura Lackey, P.E. Professor and Dean Mercer University School of Engineering Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy is offering Bulldog Pharmacy Camp the week of June 21 to 26, 2020 for high school students that are interested in investigating a career as a pharmacist. We would like to invite your students to participate in Bulldog Pharmacy Camp. During the week of pharmacy camp they will experience hands-on learning about health careers in pharmacy, participate in tours of local health care facilities and local pharmacies, participate in compounding activities and hands on demonstrations in the College of Health Sciences Learning and Simulation Laboratories. Students who attend the camp will have the unique opportunity to spend time on the Samford campus and experience campus life with us, spend time with pharmacy professors, and have a lot of time to interact with other students also interested in careers in pharmacy.
The camp is open to rising high school juniors, seniors and entering college freshmen. Selection for the camp is based on high school academic performance and their interest in the professions of pharmacy. Enclosed is a flyer that will provide your students with important information regarding this exciting opportunity. Please post this flyer on your bulletin board of opportunities for your students. Information about the camp and the camp application can be found at https://www.samford.edu/pharmacy/bulldog-pharmacy-camp. If a student has not taken the ACT or SAT, they should have their guidance counselor send an email to [email protected] stating that the student is applying for camp and has not taken the test yet. Space is limited so please encourage them to apply early. The application deadline is February 1, 2020. If they have any questions, please have them call 205-726-2008 or email [email protected]. Application Fee Waivers: For the month of November, Miami is providing up to 10 application fee waivers per high school across the country. We want to ensure all students have the opportunity to apply to Miami by our December 1 deadline for merit scholarship consideration. I encourage you to share this opportunity with students whom you believe may be a good fit at Miami or with applicants for whom paying the application fee would present a financial hardship. These students should select "Counselor Nomination Fee Waiver" on the Common Application. Please note, students who successfully complete the Miami University Bridges Program or who have participated in our Summer Scholars Program already receive an application fee waiver. Test Scores: While agency-reported electronic scores are preferred, we will accept ACT or SAT test scores provided on official high school transcripts for admission and scholarship consideration. Enrolling students who provided test scores via their high school transcript will be required to send official scores directly from the testing agency before the start of their first semester. New Majors: I am excited to share that we have three new majors available to students applying for Fall 2020: Organizational Leadership, Data Analytics, and Games + Simulation. All are now available on the Common Application. For admission to Games + Simulation, applicants must submit a concept document for a game they have or would like to produce. Early Decision Applicants: You will receive more information about our Early Decision (ED) applicants prior to the December 1 decision release, but I wanted to let you know now that ED decisions are binding only for students who are admitted to their first-choice major. Some ED applicants will be admitted to alternative programs and for them, the admission decision will not be binding. If you have any questions about Miami or the application process, please feel free to contact your Miami admission representative. Sincerely, Bethany Perkins Director of Admission The Paxon PTSA is working with Pet Partners of North Florida to bring comfort animals to school one Friday each month during both lunches. The first day will be this Friday, November 8th. You will need a parent consent form to participate. Consent forms can be obtained in the counseling office and by clicking here.
