In efforts to re-engage our disconnected youth, Duval County Public Schools will be hosting its second annual Drop Back In Day. This event is scheduled for Tuesday, January 24, 2017 during normal school hours, and invites former students to return to their neighborhood school for academic counseling as it relates to graduation. Students who are interested in re-engaging will have an opportunity to meet with a school counselor or graduation coach in order to discuss graduation requirements and their academic standing. Based on the outcome of these conversations, students may be enrolled in their home school or be referred to a Duval County Drop-Out Prevention Program or outside alternative education setting. This is an opportunity to connect former students with a school or program that best supports their academic needs and potential for success. The 2017 Drop-Back In Day and updated Drop-Out Prevention Program flyers have been attached for your reference. This information is also being shared with our faith-based organizations, community partners as well as our drop-out prevention programs. If you have additional questions or concerns, please reach out to Catherine Bekkedal, [email protected] or Regan Copeland, [email protected].
